Herbed Beef Patties image

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine ground beef, cold water, garlic salt, oregano, pepper and paprika. Mix to blend well.
  • Divide meat into even pieces. Shape each piece into a patty, about 3/4-inch thick.
  • Coat patties with flour. Let sit for a few minutes.
  • Then dip patties into beaten egg and into bread crumbs.
  • Brown patties on both sides in butter in a skillet.
  • Arrange patties in a shallow baking dish.
  • Pour a little spaghetti sauce over patties. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Pour the rest of the spaghetti sauce over patties.
  • Bake at 400F for about 25 minutes or until patties are hot and cheese has melted.
  • Sprinkle with herbs and serve.

1 1/4 lbs lean ground beef
3 tablespoons cold water
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1 dash black pepper
1 dash paprika
all-purpose flour
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
1 cup spaghetti sauce
3/4 cup grated cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon chopped fresh herb (such as basil leaves, sage, oregano or thyme)

SMOTHERED PATTIES WITH ONION AU JUS

Serve with prepared mashed potatoes and steamed green beans seasoned with butter spray and fresh parsley. Diabetic Exchanges: 3 meat and 1 vegetable. This came from Diabetic Cooking. I have not tried this, just posting for safe keeping.

Smothered Patties With Onion Au Jus image

Steps:

  • Shape ground sirloin into 4 patties about 1/2"-inch thick and 4"-inches in diameter. Sprinkle with salt.
  • Place a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Lightly coat skillet with cooking spray. Add patties and cook 3 minutes, turn and cook 3 minutes longer or until just barely pink in center. Set aside on separate plate.
  • Lightly coat pan with cooking spray. Add onions and cook 3 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently. Set aside with the patties.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the skillet. Bring to a boil and continue boiling 3 minutes or until mixture measures 1/2 cup.
  • Return the patties and onions to the skillet. Turn patties several times to coat well and cook 1 minute longer to heat through.

Hamburger Patties Smothered in Gravy image

Steps:

  • Mix 2 tsp of the brown gravy with the rest of the patty ingredients then form into 2 inch circles. Brown the patties in a skillet on medium until cooked through.
  • Mix the ingredients together for the gravy, stirring well. Pour over the cooked patties then cover with a lid & simmer on low for 7 minutes.
  • Serve hot over mashed potatoes.

1 lb lean ground beef
