A Pinch-Of-Soul Barbecue Sauce (Microwave) image

Steps:

  • in 1 quart measuring glass combine garlic, onion and butter.
  • cook on high 3-4 minutes or until tender.
  • stir in remaining ingredients and cook on high for 7 minutes, stirring once.
  • serve at table, warm or room temperature.

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 garlic cloves (minced)
1 large onion (finely chopped)
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

AUNT MASA'S SOUL SAUCE

The basic recipe came from some dear friends that lived in Niagara Falls, NY that had roots here in Alabama. I tinkered and tweaked the recipe and this is what has evolved. Most kids from 3-93 will eat just about anything this barbecue sauce is on. I even had someone ask for it on their buttered noodles.

  • 1. Mix all together and simmer until desired consistency. Put in jars and refrigerate.
  • 2. This barbecue sauce is great on anything you barbecue or would normally add barbecue sauce to.

1-(#10) can(s) heinz ketchup (do not substitute)
1 qt apple cider vinegar
1 stick butter
1 pt frank's hot sauce
2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 tsp granulated garlic powder
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • 1. In medium microwavable bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix well and microwave on high 1 1/2 minutes. Stop and stir and then microwave for an addition 1 1/2 minutes.

2 Tbsp butter, chopped
1 Tbsp brown sugar, firmly packed
1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 Tbsp cider vinegar
1 Tbsp molasses
1 1/2 tsp yellow mustard
1 Tbsp creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
3/4 tsp smoked paprika
3/4 tsp ground ancho chile pepper
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp dried oregano, crushed
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp water
