ANNA'S POP CAN PIE CRUST

Anna is a friend from a chat group I belong to. She is an ex-Tupperware hostess, she said that this is the pie crust Tupperware used for demos at home parties. It makes awesome crust.

Anna's Pop Can Pie Crust image

Steps:

  • Mix together dry ingredients.
  • Cut in shortening until mixture resembles "peas".
  • Add can of pop.
  • Seal bowl.
  • Shake in circular motion until mixture forms large dough ball.
  • Remove and roll with floured rolling pin on to floured surface.
  • Use: Coke/Pepsi for a dark crust or Sprite/7-UP for light crust.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a 9-inch pie plate with pie crust.
  • In a mixing bowl, blend together the milk, flour, sugar, vanilla and eggs. Pour into pie shell. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until custard is set, about 35 minutes.

Steps:

  • Combine dry ingredients.
  • Mix in shortening and cheese until mixture resembles cornmeal.
  • This can be done in your food processor on pulse, or with a pastry cutter.
  • Sprinkle one tablespoon of water at a time over mixture until dough is moistened and holds together.
  • Handle lightly.
  • Divide dough in half.
  • Roll out on floured surface to a 12 inch circle.
  • Makes a 9" double crust.
  • For a single baked pie crust, bake at 375° for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
