TURKEY APPLE BURGERS
YUM! And 99% fat free, according to Rachel Ray. I saw this on her show the other day and was so inspired I went out and bought ground turkey breast. It sounds weird to include apples but it makes these REALLY incredible!!! (Try the cranberry mayo idea too--see the recipe instructions!)

Steps:
- Combine turkey, apple, onion, celery, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl and form into 4 large patties.
- Preheat a large skillet or a grill pan to medium high heat.
- Drizzle skillet or brush grill with vegetable oil and cook patties 5 to 6 minutes on each side.
- Serve with FF mayo mixed with cranberry sauce for a gourmet touch, on toasted sourdough english muffins!

- Set up grill for direct cooking over medium heat. Oil grate when ready to start cooking.
- For Maple-Dijon Sauce: In a small bowl, stir to combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and 2 tablespoons maple syrup; set aside.
- For Turkey Burgers: In a medium bowl, mix together all ingredients for burgers. Wet hands to prevent sticking and shape into 4 patties.
- Place burgers on hot oiled grill for 5 to 6 minutes per side or until done.
- Serve on buns with traditional burger condiments and a dollop of maple-Dijon sauce.

ACTUALLY DELICIOUS TURKEY BURGERS
This is a simple and delicious recipe. After making them the first time my husband said 'no more' to beef burgers. These are really good - any cooking method may be used, and they freeze very well. The recipe can also be used for meatballs or meat loaves.

TURKEY BURGER WITH GREEN APPLE
All we can say is yum! No ordinary grilled burger recipe here. Shredded green apple, smoky maple seasoning and a touch of maple syrup are mixed with ground turkey and pork. The apple helps to keep these burgers moist. Silky melted Brie cheese tops the burger perfectly. They can be served as an appetizer or main meal.

- 1. Peel and shred/grate apple.
- 2. Combine with ground pork, turkey, maple syrup, cubed butter, seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- 3. Form into ten mini patty burgers.
- 4. Grill until desired doneness.
- 5. Take the rind off of the Brie cheese. At the last minute, top with Brie cheese and melt slighty.
- 6. Garnish with lettuce, tomato or avocado.
- 7. The first time I made this I did not top the burger with any condiments. You could mix a little mayo, Dijon mustard, and maple syrup together and top with that.

- To prepare the burgers:
- Shape the meat firmly into 4 round uniform patties about 1 1/2inches thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty and place 1 cube of the cheese in each. Knead the meat slightly to cover the hole. Brush both sides of the burgers lightly with the olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat until just smoking. Cook the burgers to your liking. Brush the apples on both sides with the vegetable oil. - In a large bowl, mix green onions, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic, salt and pepper. Add turkey; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into four 3/4-in.-thick patties., In a large cast-iron or other heavy skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Cook burgers until a thermometer reads 165°, 7-9 minutes on each side., Meanwhile, for slaw, in a large bowl, whisk oil, vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper. Steps:
- In a large bowl, mix together the first 6 ingredients.
- Form mixture into 4 patties and set aside.
- In a small saucepan, mix together the chili sauce and apple jelly.
- Put saucepan over medium heat; cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally; set aside to cool slightly.
- Spray broiler pan with cooking spray.
- Broil patties 6 inches from heat for 4 to 6 minutes.
- Turn patties and broil 4 to 6 minutes longer or until patties are no longer pink.
- Place burgers on bottom halves of buns.
- Top each with 2 tablespoons of sauce.
- Cover with top halves of buns.
- Cooking time for the burgers may vary since I seem to have a very hot oven.
