But as I have traveled and worked and experienced foods from around the world, I look back and realize that many of the dishes she prepared, while simple, were perfect for that moment. Sometimes we have to put emotion and love in a dish to make it extra-special. The dish I am going to give you today is one like that. Simple and easy, yet full of love and goodness. Cover and cook until cabbage is tender and ground beef is cooked through, about 45 minutes. Stir occasionally.

- In a Dutch oven, cook the beef, onion and mushrooms over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. , Add the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until cabbage and rice are tender, 15-20 minutes.

- Cook and stir the meat, onion and celery in a large skillet until the meat is brown.
- Drain off the excess fat.
- Stir in the cabbage, green pepper, catsup, water, salt, and mustard and heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat and cover.
- Simmer until the vegetables are tender, about 25 minutes.
- Spoon the mixture onto the bottom halves of the buns and top with the remaining halves.
- NOTE: For Sloppy Joes, omit the cabbage and salt.
