World's Best Lasagna image

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, cook sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until well browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and water. Season with sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon salt, pepper, and 2 tablespoons parsley. Simmer, covered, for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain noodles, and rinse with cold water. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg, remaining parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • To assemble, spread 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Arrange 6 noodles lengthwise over meat sauce. Spread with one half of the ricotta cheese mixture. Top with a third of mozzarella cheese slices. Spoon 1 1/2 cups meat sauce over mozzarella, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Cover with foil: to prevent sticking, either spray foil with cooking spray, or make sure the foil does not touch the cheese.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil, and bake an additional 25 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before serving.

  • PREHEAT oven to 375°F Brown meat with garlic and oregano in medium saucepan. Stir in spaghetti sauce; simmer 5 min., stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in tomatoes.
  • MIX egg, cottage cheese and Parmesan cheese. Spread 1/2 cup of the spaghetti sauce mixture onto bottom of 13x9-inch baking dish. Top with layers of 3 noodles, 1 cup of the cottage cheese mixture, 1/2 cup of the mozzarella cheese and 1 cup of the remaining spaghetti sauce mixture. Repeat layers. Top with remaining 3 noodles and remaining spaghetti sauce mixture. Cover with foil.
  • BAKE 30 minute or until heated through. Uncover; top with remaining 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Bake, uncovered, an additional 5 minute or until cheese is melted. Let stand 5 minute before serving.

Steps:

  • Cook lasagna according to package directions.
  • While pasta is cooking, brown sausage and hamburger.
  • After sausage and hamburger is browned, add pepperoni.
  • Mix in mushrooms, green pepper, and tomatoes (or sauce).
  • Add garlic and italian seasoning.
  • Let simmer until vegetables are thoroughly cooked.
  • Blend cottage cheese, 8 ozs of mozzarella cheese, and 2 eggs until well mixed.
  • Line bottom of deep-dish pan with single layer of lasagna.
  • Pour 1/2 cheese mixture
  • Add another layer of lasagna.
  • Pour 1/2 meat sauce mixture.
  • Add another layer of lasagna.
  • Add remaining cheese mixture.
  • Add another layer of lasagna.
  • Add remaining meat mixture.
  • Top with 8 oz mozzarella cheese.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 for 25 minutes.
  • Remove aluminum foil and bake at 350 for another 25 minutes.
  • Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
