THE WHISTLE STOP CAFE'S BLFGT SAMMY/SANDWICHES
BLFGT: Bacon, Lettuce, Fried Green Tomato Yes, there really is a Whistle Stop Cafe from the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes". It is pretty much like the movie portrays it, a Southern cafe with really authentic fare, and some of the best fried green tomatoes ever. I came across this when looking for fried green tomato recipes without much cornmeal. It sparked my interest, so I thought I'd share it with my Zaar friends. Looks like a lot of work, but well worth the time.

Steps:
- Fry the bacon until just browned and drain. Strain and save the drippings. In a small bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt and pepper, and milk; stir to combine. The consistency should be like pancake batter.
- Add the oil to the drippings and heat. Dip each slice of tomato in the batter, letting the excess drip off. Fry the tomatoes until browned, being careful not to burn them. Drain well.
- Stir together the chili sauce and mayonnaise.
- To assemble, spread on the mayo, layer the bacon, tomato and lettuce.

BLT SANDWICH
A bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich is always a good idea, but come summer, it's especially brilliant. Why? Also, because a BLT is simply irresistible and manages to be both satisfying and light all at once-exactly what you want when the weather is warm. This recipe is for the classic BLT sandwich you know and love: bacon, lettuce and tomato nestled between two slices of toasted and mayo-schmeared white bread.

- Toast two slices of bread, Then, spread one slice of toast with mayonnaise. Top with lettuce leaves, tomato slices and bacon. Finally, top sandwich with the second slice of toast.

THE WORLD'S BEST B L T SANDWICH
So simple, and yet so many subtle differences transform "good" to "world's best." the way a sandwich is assembled is key to how good it tastes. A gread sandwich is never dry (too bready). I pull out and discard all the soft white centers from baguettes, leaving two cano-shaped halves. This hollowed out bread is then packed full and doused with a generous splash of "house" dressing. Closing one of these sandwiches is like shutting an overpacked suitcase!

Steps:
- First make the house dressing, by combining all ingredients in a blender except for the olive oil.
- With the motor running, very slowly drizzle in the olive oil and mix until it is fully combined.
- Under a broiler or on a griddle, lightly toast the inside of the baguette.
- Combine the mayonnaise and pesto.
- Spread the pesto mayonnaise all over the inside of both halves of the baguette.
- Lay the bacon along the length of the bottom half of the bread.
- Lay the tomato slices on top of the bacon and drizzle with the house dressing.
- Fill the remaining cavity with the lettuce leaves.
- Close the sandwich tightly.
- Cut on the diagonal with a sharp serrated knife into 2 to 4 pieces.
- You may need toothpicks to keep the sandwiches together.
