BRANDY SLUSH

My parents used to play cards once a month on a Saturday night. In the summertime, when it was her turn to host, my mom would make this wonderful cool beverage as part of her buffet of snacks and goodies. A cool glass of Brandy Slush also often made family gatherings more tolerable... was it the coolness of the drink, or the brandy that did it? I'm not telling! (Time required to freeze beverage is not included in the time to make.)

Steps:

  • 1. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add tea bags. Let steep.
  • 2. On the stove top, heat the 7 cups of water and 2 cups of sugar until sugar is dissolved. Combine tea, sugar/water mixture and the frozen juices and brandy. Freeze completely. (It will not freeze solid due to the brandy, and this is why it is like a slushy when scooped out.)
  • 3. Scoop out brandy mixture that has been frozen with an ice cream scoop into glasses. Top off with a splash of 7 up.

4 tea bags
7 c water
