GARLIC CHEESE BISCUITS
"This is a savory variation on my favorite buttermilk biscuit recipe," notes Gayle Becker of Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Shredded cheddar cheese adds nice color, and a tasty butter mixture brushed on top of these drop biscuits provides a burst of garlic flavor.

- In a small bowl, combine the flour, 2 teaspoons garlic powder, baking powder, baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon bouillon; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add cheese. Stir in buttermilk just until moistened. , Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls 1 in. apart onto a greased baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 10 minutes. Combine butter with remaining garlic powder; brush over biscuits. Bake 4 minutes longer or until golden brown. Serve warm.

- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Grease a baking sheet with cooking spray.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder and salt in a large bowl. Add butter to mixture and use a pastry cutter or two knives to blend until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. Stir in cheese and parsley. Add buttermilk and stir until just combined.
- Use a large ice cream scoop to drop biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with flakey sea salt. Bake until golden brown, 15 to 18 minutes. Serve immediately.

- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
- Sift flour, baking powder, white sugar, cream of tartar, 1/3 teaspoon garlic powder, and salt together in a large bowl. Mash unsalted butter cubes into the flour mixture with a pastry cutter or large fork until coarsely blended. Mix Cheddar cheese and Italian seasoning into the flour mixture.
- Pour milk over the flour mixture while stirring until you get a tough and sticky dough. Drop dough by the tablespoon onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in preheated oven until lightly browned, about 15 minutes.
- Stir melted salted butter, parsley flakes, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder together in a bowl; brush over biscuits immediately upon removing from the oven.
