CRAB AND CREAM CHEESE HORS D'OEUVRE

I made this spread the last time I had company, it disappeared quickly. Next time I will double the recipe.

Crab and Cream Cheese Hors D'oeuvre image

Steps:

  • Blend together all ingredients except almonds and put in shallow baking dish (salt and pepper to taste).
  • Sprinkle almonds over top and bake at 350 degrees until slightly browned on top.
  • Serve hot on crackers.

1/2 teaspoon horseradish

2 tablespoons chopped onions
2 ounces slivered almonds

CRAB-CHEESE HORS D'OEUVRES

My sister in-law gave me this recipe when I was first married. Our family cannot wait to scoop these up as soon as they come out of the oven. These are quick, simple to make, and the ingredients can be kept on hand easily. Can use frozen English muffins without defrosting. Do not substitute butter for margarine as the consistency is changed with butter.

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients.
  • Spread on muffins.
  • Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes.
  • Cut into quarters.

This hors d'Oeuvre is relatively easy to produce, and makes a great way to keep your guests happy while waiting for the main event. And with only six ingredients, it's a snap to put together. Crab on Crackers Hors d'Oeuvres with a Twist image

Steps:

  • 1. Gather all your ingredients
  • 2. Sauté the bacon until crisp, but not too crisp
  • 3. Remove from pan and allow to drain and cool on some paper towels
  • 4. Chef's Note: Reserve the bacon grease for another use (I'm planning on sautéing a couple of chicken breasts with it... but that's another recipe).
  • 5. Chop the bacon into small pieces and reserve.
  • 6. Add the mayo, lemon juice, salt & pepper (to taste), and the cayenne pepper to a bowl, and mix thoroughly.
  • 7. Carefully fold in the crab until fully incorporated.
  • 8. Place a heaping teaspoon of the crab mixture on a cracker, and add a few pieces of chopped bacon.
  • 9. Cover with a piece of the cheese, and place in a broiler and broil until the cheese bubbles and begins to brown.
  • 10. Serve with a lemon or lime wedge. Enjoy.
  • 11. Keep the faith and keep cooking.

8 oz fresh crabmeat, picked over for shells
3 Tbsp mayo
1 tsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed
1 pinch cayenne pepper
4 slice bacon, thick sliced
15-20 slice colby cheese, cut into 1-inch squares about 1/8 inch thick
