Steps:

  • In a medium skillet over medium heat, add the butter. When it is melted, add the onions and cook until they begin to soften, about 5 minutes. Add the hot dogs and cook to heat them through.
  • Whisk the eggs and season with salt and pepper. Lower the heat in the skillet, pour in the eggs, and sprinkle the cheese on top. Cook, stirring often, until the eggs are cooked to your liking. Serve hot.

Reserved 2 hot dogs from Corn Dogs recipe, sliced into 1/2-inch thick slices

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Roll crescent roll dough onto a baking sheet. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese over dough. Lay a hot dog at the base of each triangle and roll dough around hot dog.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until rolls are golden and hot dogs are plump, about 12 minutes.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Lay out 1 wrapper in a diamond shape. Put some cheese (and salsa, but try to keep it dry) in a line from corner to corner (side to side). Place hot dog on top of the toppings. Using your finger, 'paint' the top corner and edges of the wrapper with water. Take the bottom corner (closest to you), and start rolling it up (away from you). As you roll past the side corners, fold them in to seal the eggroll. Place rolled up goodness on a greased baking sheet. Lightly brush olive oil on wraps and bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Don't use too much oil, just barely enough to cover the roll or you end up with a greasy mess. If you can see the oil (or it's dripping down the roll), you've used too much.

4 wonton wrappers
4 hot dogs, skinny ones work best
1/2 cup cheese, shredded (Mexican, or cheddar)
1/4 cup salsa, optional
2 tablespoons olive oil
Water to seal the wrappers

  • Place eggroll wraps on a work surface. Place 1 whole green chile diagonally on the wrap. Add about 2 tablespoons pepper Jack cheese, or enough to cover chile. Fold bottom corner over filling. Roll snugly halfway to cover filling. Fold in both sides snugly against filling to look like an envelope; moisten edges of last flap with a moistened finger. Roll wrap up and seal top corner using water again to moisten edges to make them stick. Lay flap-side down until ready to cook. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  • Heat canola oil in a deep saucepan over medium heat to 350°F. Lower eggrolls with the flap side down carefully into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden, turning occasionally, 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain. Repeat with remaining eggrolls.

  • Preheat oven to 350F. To assemble hot dog wontons, lay an egg roll wrapper in front of you in a diamond shape. At one end, sprinkle on a couple of tablespoons of cheese. Lay the hot dog on the cheese. Fold the egg roll wrapper over the hot dog, and begin rolling up, folding in the sides as you get to them. Secure the edges of the egg roll wrapper with a bit of water. Continue assembling the rest of the hot dogs.
  • Place the hot dog wontons on a large baking sheet that has been greased with oil. Using a pastry brush, brush each wonton generously with olive oil. Place in oven and bake for approximately 12 to 15 minutes, or until the egg roll wrapper is crispy and the hot dogs are hot in the center. Remove from oven and allow to cool for a couple of minutes before serving. Serve with ketchup, mustard, and other toppings, if desired.

  • Lay an egg roll wrapper down with the point facing you so it looks like a diamond shape. Place a hot dog across the egg roll wrapper diagonally so the ends are in line with 2 of the corners of the wrapper. Spoon 1 to 2 tablespoons of chili along the length of the hot dog followed by, a little shredded cheese, 1/2 tsp of diced chilis, 3 jalapenos, and a little onion and/or scallion. Don't overfill or you won't be able to close the egg rolls!
  • Start by folding over the egg roll wrapper corner facing you and snugly tucking it around the hot dog and toppings. Next fold over both sides at the ends of the hot dog. Finish up by folding over the egg roll while gently squeezing. Seal the egg roll edges with a little water and continue with the rest.
  • Pan Frying Method: Heat a frying pan over high heat with about 2 inches of cooking oil to about 350º F(175º C). You’ll know the oil is hot enough when you stick the end of a wooden spoon in there and it bubbles. Place egg rolls in hot oil, making sure not to crowd the pan. Cook about 2 minutes per side or until they’re lightly browned. Place on a baking sheet lined with a paper bag or paper towels to absorb any excess oil before serving.
  • Serve the egg rolls either whole or sliced in half. Condiments can include ketchup, mustard, ranch dressing, salsa or guacamole
