- In a large bowl, cream butter and confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy; gradually add flour and mix well. , Shape a tablespoonful of dough around each cherry, forming a ball. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets., Bake at 325° for 18-20 minutes or until the bottoms are browned. Roll warm cookies in confectioners' sugar. Cool on wire racks.

These were my favorite holiday cookie growing up. I'm not sure why I only make them at Christmas; I love them so much I should make them year round! They are very sweet and a pretty addition to any holiday cookie tray.

Steps:
- Mix together - butter, sugar & vanilla.
- Add flour & salt (will be fairly dry/crumbly, if too dry to wrap around a cherry add a tbsp of cream/milk).
- Mold by tbsp fully around cherry.
- Place on un-greased cookie sheet about 1" apart.
- Bake at 350* for 12-15 minutes until set, but not brown.
- Icing: Mix together 1 Celsius powdered sugar, 1 1/2 tablespoons milk (I like to use leftover cherry juice instead of milk), 1 teaspoons vanilla (add cocoa if desired).
- Dip in frosting mix & set on waxed paper to harden.

- In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes; beat in egg and vanilla. Combine the dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture (batter will be very firm). Shape into 48 balls, about 1 in. round, and place on ungreased baking sheets. Push 1 cherry halfway into each ball. , For frosting, melt chocolate chips in milk in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. - Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
