Steps:
- In a bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture. Stir in 1/2 cup chocolate chips and walnuts. Spread into a greased 8-in. square microwave-safe dish. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 3-1/2 minutes or until bars test done, rotating a quarter turn every minute. Cool before cutting.

- Preheat oven to 350°. In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar and cocoa. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press firmly into a greased 13x9-in. baking pan. Bake 10 minutes., Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine milk and 1 cup chocolate chips; cook and stir over low heat until smooth and chips are melted. Stir in vanilla. , Pour over crust. Sprinkle with walnuts and remaining chocolate chips. Top with coconut and toffee bits. Gently press down into chocolate layer. Bake 18-20 minutes longer or until firm. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

Steps:
- Set oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl cream together butter with sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 4 minutes).
- Add in water, maple extract and 2 egg yolks (reserve the whites in another bowl) beat for 2-3 minutes.
- Mix together the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder and cinnamon (if using) then add to the creamed mixture; mix until combined.
- Spread the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the batter.
- Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form, then add in in 1/2 cup brown sugar; blend well.
- Spread the egg white mixture over the top of the chocolate chips.
- Sprinkle the top with chopped nuts.
- Bake for about 35 minutes or until the meringue is light brown.
- Cut the bars while still hot.

- Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, beat butter until fluffy. Add the flour, sugar and salt; beat just until crumbly. Set aside 1 cup for topping. Press remaining crumb mixture into a greased 13x9-in. baking pan. - Position the rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F.
- Put the butter in a microwave-safe bowl, cover and microwave on medium power until melted. Alternatively melt the butter in a small saucepan. Brush some butter on the inside of a 9-by-13-inch pan and cool the remaining butter slightly. Whisk the remaining cooled butter, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl until smooth.
- Whisk the flour, baking soda and salt in another bowl. Stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients with a spoon or spatula, taking care not to over mix. The batter should be thick and all of the flour mixture should be fully incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake until the edges are browned and the center is completely set, about 30 minutes. Cool completely, at least one hour, cut into 24 pieces and serve.

- In medium bowl mix 1 1/2 c boiling water and 1 1/2 tsp baking soda with the dates.
- Set aside to cool.
- Beat together margarine,1 c sugar and eggs in large bowl.
- To this add vanilla extract and date mixture.
- Add flour, 3/4 tsp baking soda and salt.
- Pour into greased and floured 13x9 pan.
- Sprinkle 1/4 c sugar, nuts and chocolate morsels on top.
- Bake @ 325 degrees 45 minutes.
- The difficult part: set aside until the next day to eat.
