WALNUT BALLS

This is an old, old recipe that has been in the family for years. The origin is unknown. Recipe uses very little sugar in it and is rolled in superfine sugar to sweeten.

Walnut Balls image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Cream the sugar and butter. Add flour, nuts, salt and vanilla. Mix well. Batter will be very crumbly.
  • Shape into 1 inch balls. Bake for 15 minutes, remove from oven and allow to cool for 3 minutes. Roll in super fine sugar. When cool, roll again, if desired.

Walnuts baked until crusted with cinnamon glaze. Cool and serve as a snack or in salads. Soak pan or wash immediately for easily clean-up.

Crusted Cinnamon Walnuts image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 200 degrees F (95 degrees C). Prepare a jelly roll pan with cooking spray.
  • Beat egg white and sugar together in a large bowl.
  • Mix cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt together in a small bowl; stir into the egg mixture. Fold walnuts into the mixture to coat; spread onto prepared jelly roll pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven until the coating on the nuts is crusty, about 1 hour 15 minutes. Cool nuts 5 minutes before serving.

Cinnamon-Sugared Walnuts image

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Spread the walnuts out on the prepared baking sheet and roast for 5 minutes. Let cool, then transfer to a bowl. Lightly coat the aluminum foil with canola oil.
  • In a second bowl, combine the corn syrup, maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt. Stir to combine, breaking up any lumps of cinnamon. Add the walnuts and toss to coat thoroughly. Pour the walnuts onto the oiled baking sheet.
  • Bake, stirring occasionally, until the walnuts are golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool. Sprinkle over desserts, or serve with cheese or as a snack.

  • Once mixed then add milk.
  • Take the mixture and knead it on a firm surface.
  • Take 1 tablespoon and roll it into a ball.

Steps:

  • Mix the almonds, sugar and cinnamon together in a medium bowl.
  • Whisk the egg whites in a separate bowl until they begin to stiffen.
  • Fold whisked egg whites into the dry mixture until the combination is fairly firm.
  • Use your hands to roll the mixture into pecan-sized balls and place these onto a greased baking sheet.
  • Bake for about 15 minutes at 350 degrees F.
  • Remove from oven and use a metal spatula to separate the balls from the baking sheet before they cool too much.
  • Once the cinnamon balls are completely cooled, gently roll each ball in confectioner's sugar until it is completely coated in sugar.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F
  • Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Beat margarine, sugar replacement, egg and vanilla until creamy. Add flour mixture, stirring to mix completely. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
