Steps:
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine the chicken, celery, onions and cherries. Drain pasta and rinse in cold water; add to chicken mixture., In a small bowl, whisk the mayonnaise, sugar, salt, mustard, pepper and tarragon. Pour over salad and toss to coat. Chill until serving.

- Prepare pasta according to package directions; drain, rinse with cold water and drain again.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the pasta, chicken, celery, and cherries; stir to mix well.
- In a smaller bowl, add the dressing ingredients.
- Using a whisk, stir until well blended.
- Pour dressing over the salad; toss gently.
- Add almonds and fold in gently.

Steps:
- Mix together all the ingredients for the dressing; set aside. Cook the pasta al dente, drain, toss in olive oil and cool completely. Combine pasta, chicken, cherries, celery, onion and ½ the almonds in a large bowl. Mix in dressing to desired consistency. Taste for salt and adjust if necessary. Transfer to a serving dish and top with the remaining almonds.
CHERRY CHICKEN SALAD
After dining at a cafe in Michigan about 10 years ago, I tried duplicating this scrumptious twist on Chicken Salad at home. The cherries can be ordered on-line these days, which makes it much easier for those of us living where cherries are not readily available. Regular milk can be substituted for buttermilk, if necessary.
