FLUFFY NUTELLA BUTTERCREAM FROSTING

This fluffy - and super easy - buttercream frosting recipe features everyone's favorite chocolate-hazelnut spread, Nutella. Pure perfection. One batch of this buttercream should be plenty to frost one standard-sized layer cake or generously top a dozen cupcakes.

Fluffy Nutella Buttercream Frosting image

Steps:

  • In a stand mixer afixed with the paddle attachment, beat together the butter and powdered sugar on low until well-blended. Add the Nutella and increase the speed to medium. Beat for two minutes.
  • Add the vanilla extract and salt and whip for an additional 30 seconds.
  • Add the whipping cream and beat for about one minute, until the frosting lightens slightly in both color and texture.

2 cups powdered sugar (aka confectioner's sugar)
2/3 cup Nutella (or other chocolate-hazelnut spread)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Pinch kosher salt (up to 1/4 teaspoon, to taste)
2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

I created this frosting recipe today for my sugar cookies. I'm not a fan of super sweet icing so I decided to make my own...I love Italian Buttercream but it is way to time consuming for rolled sugar cookies (which already take a long time).

Steps:

  • 1. Beat butter until cream.
  • 2. Add powdered sugar a cup at a time. Beat and scrape down bowl after each addition. Add pinch of salt. Beat until incorporated.
  • 3. Add vanilla extract and lemon juice. Beat until incorporated.
  • 4. Add milk and beat until nice and fluffy. Add more to thin out to desired consistency.

Steps:

  • Combine powdered sugar and butter in a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add cocoa powder, vanilla, and salt; mix for 30 seconds. Add cream 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Mix on medium speed until frosting is shiny and seems to have large bubbles, 3 to 5 minutes more.

Quick and Almost-Professional Buttercream Icing image

Steps:

  • Cream room temperature butter with a hand mixer, the paddle attachment of a stand mixer, or a wooden spoon until smooth and fluffy. Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar until fully incorporated. Beat in vanilla extract.
  • Pour in milk and beat for an additional 3 to 4 minutes. Add food coloring, if using, and beat for thirty seconds until smooth or until desired color is reached.
