Steps:
- Heat gas or charcoal grill. In medium bowl, mix ground beef, salt and pepper. Shape mixture into 4 oval patties, about 1/2 inch thick, to fit hoagie buns.
- Cut 2 (18x12-inch) sheets of heavy-duty foil. Generously spray half of one side of each foil sheet with cooking spray. Place onions evenly in center of sprayed portion of foil; generously spray onions with cooking spray. Fold unsprayed half of foil over onions so edges meet; seal edges with tight 1/2-inch folds and fold again, allowing room for heat expansion.
- When grill is heated, place patties and packets on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill over medium coals; cover grill. Cook 11 to 13 minutes, turning patties and packets over once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F and onions are tender.
- Spread cheese onto bottom halves of buns. Top each with lettuce leaf, patty and onions. Cover with top halves of buns.

EASY GROUND BEEF HOAGIES
When my children were teenagers, you never knew how many were going to be coming over for dinner. I came up with this hoagie recipe when I needed to feed a lot of hungry teens in a hurry. They are all grown and gone now and since it's just my husband and me, I've scaled down the size of this recipe so that there's just enough...

Steps:
- 1. Wash and slice mushrooms; peel, quarter and slice onion and set aside. In large skillet, heat 3 to 4 tablespoons olive oil. When hot, add mushrooms, onions and ground beef. Add seasonings and cook until ground beef is browned, onions are transparent and mushrooms are cooked. Drain and blot with paper towels to remove as much excess grease as possible, return to pan and set aside.
- 2. Prepare mushroom gravy mix according to package directions. When done, pour into ground beef mixture and add mozzarella cheese. Continue to heat until cheese melts and mixture is thoroughly heated.
- 3. Slice hoagie rolls and spoon mixture into rolls. Add additional cheese, if desired and serve with chips, fries, salads or any other sides you like.
- 4. This recipe is very easily tweeked to your family's likings. You may also add in extras such as green peppers or spice it up with jalapeno peppers. You can also adjust the seasonings. This recipe is very easily doubled or even trippled to serve a lot of people. I sincerely hope that y'all enjoy!

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a medium bowl, gently mix by hand the ground beef, bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic, parsley, Parmesan cheese, and egg. Shape into 12 meatballs, and place in a baking dish.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until cooked through. Meanwhile, cut the baguette in half lengthwise, and remove some of the bread from the inside to make a well for the meatballs. Brush with olive oil, and season with garlic powder and salt. Slip the baguette into the oven during the last 5 minutes of the meatball's time, or until lightly toasted.
- While the bread toasts, warm the spaghetti sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. When the meatballs are done, use a slotted spoon to transfer them to the sauce. Spoon onto the baguette and top with slices of provolone cheese. Return to the oven for 2 to 3 minutes to melt the cheese. Cool slightly, cut into servings, and enjoy!

This recipe can be used to make either hamburger buns or hot dog buns. My husband says they are 'top of the line.' Nice and soft.

Steps:
- In a small saucepan, heat milk, water and butter until very warm, 120 degrees F (50 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, mix together 1 3/4 cup flour, yeast, sugar and salt. Mix milk mixture into flour mixture, and then mix in egg. Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
- Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape into smooth balls, and place on a greased baking sheet. Flatten slightly. Cover, and let rise for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
- For Hot Dog Buns: Shape each piece into a 6x4 inch rectangle. Starting with the longer side, roll up tightly, and pinch edges and ends to seal. Let rise about 20 to 25 minutes. Bake as above. These buns are pretty big. I usually make 16 instead of 12.
