INDIAN VEGETARIAN HAKKA-STYLE CHILE PANEER

Indian Vegetarian Hakka-Style Chile Paneer image

Steps:

  • Heat oil in large nonstick skillet on high heat. Add paneer, onions, green peppers, chiles, garlic and ginger; cook and stir 5 min. or until paneer is lightly browned and onions are crisp-tender.
  • Meanwhile, mix cornstarch and water in medium bowl until blended. Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
  • Add cornstarch mixture to skillet; cook and stir 30 sec. to 1 min. or until sauce is thickened.

7 oz. paneer cheese, cut into 1/4-inch cubes
1 onion, chopped
1/2 cup chopped green peppers
3 green chiles, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 Tbsp. minced fresh ginger
1 tsp. cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup KRAFT Classic CATALINA Dressing
2 Tbsp. lite soy sauce
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro
1 Tbsp. unseasoned rice vinegar
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper

  • Cut paneer into cubes. To a large bowl, add 3 tablespoons cornstarch, 3 tablespoons flour along with salt, pepper.
  • Add water to make a free flowing batter, it should neither be thick nor thin. I added little less than 1/2 cup water here. Meanwhile heat oil in a wok/kadai on medium heat to deep fry the paneer.
  • Fry until the paneer pieces get golden brown and crispy from both sides. Drain the fried paneer on paper towel.
