Italian Patty Melts image

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the egg, 1/4 cup spaghetti sauce, bread crumbs and pepper. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into four oval patties; set aside., Combine butter and seasonings; brush over both sides of bread. In a large skillet, toast bread until lightly browned; set aside., In the same skillet, cook patties over medium heat for 4-6 minutes on each side or until no longer pink. , Spoon remaining sauce over patties; sprinkle with cheese. Cover and cook for 1 minute or until cheese is melted. Place burgers on four slices of toast; top with remaining toast.

Italian Sausage and Pepper Burgers image

Steps:

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions and peppers and saute until the onions are translucent and the peppers are tender, 6 to 8 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute longer. Remove from the heat.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill to medium high.
  • Combine both sausages in a bowl. Form into 4 patties. Grill until cooked through, 4 to 5 minutes per side. Top each burger with some of the onions and peppers and 2 slices of cheese, cover the grill and cook until the cheese melts.
  • In a bowl, add the mayo and pesto and stir to combine. Spread the rolls with the pesto mayo, add the burgers and banana peppers and serve immediately.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, cored and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon tomato paste
12 ounces hot Italian sausage (if links, remove casings)
12 ounces sweet Italian sausage (if links, remove casings)
8 slices provolone
1/4 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons pesto
4 ciabatta rolls, buttered and lightly toasted
Pickled banana peppers, for topping

Steps:

  • Combine parsley, salt, fennel, black pepper, garlic, Italian seasoning, minced onion, and red pepper flakes in a spice grinder or mortar and pestle. Grind until all seasonings are finely crushed.
  • Place pork in a large bowl and add seasoning mix. Mix with your hands until well combined. Roll into a log and slice into four 1/2-inch thick sausage patties.
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook sausage patties for 4 minutes. Turn patties and finish cooking for 4 more minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (73 degrees C).

Italian Beef Sandwiches image

Steps:

  • For the giardiniera: Combine the carrots, pepperoncini, jalapeños, roasted red peppers, olive oil, pepperoncini liquid, garlic powder and pepper in a bowl. Toss well, then set aside.
  • For the beef: Remove the sirloin from the freezer and, using a mandoline or a sharp knife, cut into very thin strips against the grain. Sprinkle the meat with salt and pepper.
  • Heat the olive oil over medium-high heat in a large saute pan. Add the beef and sauté until starting to brown, but still pink, about 2 minutes. Add the Italian seasoning and garlic, then cook for 30 seconds. Add the broth and vinegar, then bring to a simmer. Remove from the heat.
  • Place 3 slices of provolone on each roll. Top with the hot beef. Sprinkle with some of the giardiniera. Serve with extra broth on the side for dipping.

  • Preheat oven to 350º. Cut rolls horizontally in half; place roll bottoms in a greased 11x7-in. baking dish. Mix mayonnaise and pesto until combined. Spread over cut sides of rolls.
