If it's not made from scratch, it ain't a Whiskey Sour. For a cleaner, classier looking drink, strain the lemon juice to remove seeds and pulp.

Steps:

  • Combine the simple syrup, lemon juice and whiskey in a shaker. Fill with ice. Cover and shake for about 30 seconds, until the shaker is frosty. Strain into martini glasses and garnish with a maraschino cherry. This can also be served in tumblers full of ice.

  • Preheat broiler to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C).
  • In a medium mixing bowl beat together condensed milk, egg yolks, and lemon juice. Pour mixture into graham cracker crust.

  • In a bowl, stir together lemon juice, sugar, rind and 1 1/4 cups water until the sugar is dissolved.Pour the mixture into an ice tray and freeze into solid cubes. The lemon mixture may be prepared up to this point 1 day in advance.
  • In a blender, blend frozen lemon mixture, Cuarenta Y Tres, and vodka, scraping down the sides occasionally, until the mixture is smooth but still frozen. Divide the mixture between 2 stemmed glasses.

Lemon Cookies from Scratch image

Steps:

  • Cream sugar, butter, and lemon zest together in a large bowl using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  • Combine eggs, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a cup; mix using a fork until combined. Beat into egg mixture slowly on low speed.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium bowl. Add to egg mixture slowly on low speed until just combined. Do not overbeat; dough will be sticky. Cover and chill dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes; it will still be sticky after chilling.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper.

Pan-Seared Ranch Chicken image

Steps:

  • In a measuring cup or small bowl, stir together the yogurt, mayonnaise, chives, dill and garlic powder; season with 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and a few grinds of pepper. Transfer half the ranch to a medium bowl.
  • Pat the chicken dry. If thickness varies greatly, pound to an even thickness of about 1/2 inch. Season both sides with salt and pepper, then transfer the chicken to the medium bowl with the ranch and toss to coat. Let sit at least 15 minutes, or refrigerate overnight. (Let it come to room temperature before cooking.)

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, flour and salt. Gradually stir in water. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from the heat. Gradually stir 1 cup of hot mixture into egg yolks; return all to saucepan. Bring to boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat.
