Steps:

  • In a blender, combine the first five ingredients; cover and process until blended. Pour into chilled glasses. Sprinkle with grated chocolate if desired. Serve immediately.

OLD-FASHIONED CHOCOLATE OR VANILLA MALTED

The Walgreen drugstore chain popularized this soda-fountain drink in the 1930s under the name "Horlick's Malted Milk". You can make this warm-weather favorite with either whole milk and ice cream or low-fat milk and frozen yogurt. For adults, toss a shot of Kahlua or brandy into the blender for a tasty treat.

Steps:

  • Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla,mix well.
  • Sift together flour,baking powder,salt,cocoa amd malted milk powder.
  • Add alternately with water to creamed mixture.
  • Fold in nuts.
  • Chill 2 hours.
  • Drop teaspoons of dough 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheet.
  • Bake at 350 about 12 minutes.
  • Remove cookies and cool on wire rack.
