People are always surprised when I tell them there are only four ingredients in this easy sausage balls recipe. Cheesy and spicy, these golden morsels are a fun novelty at a breakfast or brunch. They also make yummy appetizers. -Della Moore, Troy, New York

Sausage Cheese Puffs image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°. In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until no longer pink, 5-7 minutes, breaking into crumbles; drain. , In a large bowl, combine biscuit mix and cheese; stir in sausage. Add water and toss with a fork until moistened. Shape into 1-1/2-in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. , Bake until puffed and golden brown, 12-15 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

Sausage Cream Cheese Crescents image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Scramble the sausage and crumble VERY well. Drain and rinse under running water to get rid of any excess grease. Wipe any grease out of the skillet and replace sausage on heat.
  • Add in cream cheese and any other ingredients you might like. Stir over low heat until cream cheese is melted and the whole mixture is blended well.
  • Unroll the crescents into triangles and place a small amount of filling in the center of the longest end. Roll, pinching the edges to seal in the filling and place on a lightly sprayed baking sheet.
  • Bake until golden brown, about 12-15 minute Watch carefully, so they don't burn.

1 lb roll pork sausage (hot or mild)
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerator crescent roll dough

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees with rack in center position.
  • Roll out puff pastry to 12-inch square. Brush maple syrup over entire surface.
  • Cut dough into thirds in each direction and then cut each square in half diagonally, ending with 18 triangles. Place a breakfast sausage link on the lower third of each triangle and roll up, making sure to place each tip-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Whisk egg and 1 teaspoon water in a small bowl until lightly beaten. Brush each puff with egg wash and bake for 16 to 18 minutes until golden brown.

Mom's Sausage Roll image

Steps:

  • Thaw the frozen bread dough.
  • Place sausage in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, rapidly cook and stir the eggs until solid. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a medium baking dish.
  • One loaf at a time on a lightly floured surface, roll the bread dough into a sheet approximately 1/4 inch or less thick. Spread 1/3 of the sausage, 1/3 of the eggs, 1/3 of the pepperoni and 1/3 of the Provolone cheese evenly over each dough sheet. Roll into a loaf.
  • One at a time, place rolled loaves into the prepared baking dish, brush with 1/3 of the beaten egg mixture and bake in the preheated oven 30 to 45 minutes, until golden brown. If desired, form loaves into a U shape before baking.

  • Brown sausage as you normally would and drain well.
  • Microwave cheese whiz so it is warm and a little runny.
  • Mix together the cheese whiz and sausage. Then, add the bisquick to the mixture.
  • Mix together well and the dallop the mixture onto a baking tray (ungreased).
  • Cook in oven for about 10-12 minutes depending on how big you make them.

My Mom's Holiday Sausage Holiday Balls image

Steps:

  • For the applesauce: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Peel the apples, then thinly slice around the core. Place in a microwave-safe bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Microwave until the apples are tender, about 5 minutes. Place in a blender with the butter and puree. Set aside.
  • For the sausage balls: Grease a rimmed baking sheet with the oil. Combine the sausage, cheese, pancake mix, chives, a big pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper in a large bowl and mix well. Roll into 1 1/2-inch balls (about the size of a Ping-Pong ball). Place on the prepared baking sheet in an even layer, leaving 1 inch between balls. Bake until cooked through and browned, 20 to 25 minutes. Serve with the applesauce.

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Place sausage in a cake pan sprayed with Pam.
  • Top sausage with peppers and onions. Season with salt & pepper to taste. Add 1/2 cup water to the pan.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and stir the sausage, peppers and onions. Cover with the foil again and return to the oven and continue to bake for 20 more minutes.
  • Note: I like to drain my peppers, onions and sausage if needed and fry my peppers & onions in butter a little before serving.
