EASY FOUR-LAYER CHOCOLATE DESSERT

Out of all the easy chocolate desserts I make, these nutty, chocolaty layered treats have become my family's favorite. I make sure to whip up my mom her very own batch, since she loves this chocolate delight so much! -Kristen Stecklein, Waukesha, Wisconsin

Easy Four-Layer Chocolate Dessert image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Place flour in a small bowl; cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in 1/2 cup walnuts. Press onto bottom of an ungreased 13x9-in. baking dish. Bake until light golden brown, 12-15 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack., In a small bowl, beat cream cheese and confectioners' sugar until smooth; fold in 1 carton whipped topping. Spread over crust. In a large bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Gently spread over cream cheese layer. Top with remaining whipped topping. Sprinkle with chocolate chunks and remaining walnuts. Refrigerate until cold., Cut into bars. Just before serving, drizzle with chocolate syrup.

1/2 cup cold butter
1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted, divided
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 cartons (8 ounces each) frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided
2-1/2 cups 2% milk
2 packages (3.9 ounces each) instant chocolate pudding mix
1 cup semisweet chocolate chunks
Chocolate syrup

Steps:

  • Spread crackers on foil lined cookie sheet.
  • Melt butter add sugar and bring to a boil- boil 2 min.
  • Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  • Pour mixture over crackers evenly and sprinkle almonds over mixture.
  • Bake in 350 oven until brown.
  • Watch very carefully as it browns quick- 3-5 min.
  • Let cool completely before removing from foil.
  • (This is really important, if you do not let them cool they will break.).

1 cup slivered almonds
42 Club crackers
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

WALNUT CHERRY DELIGHTS

These may be frosted with an icing made from 2 cups powdered sugar, a slightly beaten egg white and 2 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice or water. You can use candied cherries in these cookies instead of the maraschinos, if you prefer.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Grease a 9 inch square pan.
  • Mix 1 cup flour, white sugar and butter by hand. Pat into pan. Bake for 8 - 10 minutes.
  • With a whisk, beat 2 eggs. Whisk in brown sugar, then add 1/4 cup flour and baking powder. Stir in nuts and cherries. Pour over baked crust.
  • Bake for 20 - 25 minutes more.

Steps:

  • -Place crackers in a single layer in a parchment lined jelly roll pan. - In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. -Add sugar and bring to a boil stirring constantly. -Boil 2 minutes. -Remove from heat and add vanilla. -Pour evenly over crackers and sprinkle with almonds. -Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately remove from pan and cool on wire racks. -Store in an airtight container.
