Frequently asked questions

+ − Can I make this in a regular oven instead of using a slow cooker?
Yes, place the venison and liquid ingredients in a covered Dutch oven and cook at 275°F for 6-8 hours until tender, then proceed with the recipe.
+ − How can I make this dish less sweet?
Reduce the brown sugar to 2-3 tablespoons and use a less sweet barbecue sauce. You can also add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar for balance.
+ − Is this recipe gluten-free?
Check your barbecue sauce and baked beans labels, as some contain gluten. Use certified gluten-free versions if needed.
