RUDOLPH NOSES

I took my grandmother's recipe for chocolate coconut macaroons and made them festive by adding half of a maraschino cherry to the top of each one. Her recipe called for 12 ounces of semisweet melted chocolate, but I used Hershey's® unsweetened cocoa powder instead because it's what I had on hand.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Line baking sheets with waxed paper.
  • Beat egg whites in a glass or metal bowl until foamy. Gradually add sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. Lift your beater or whisk straight up: the egg whites will form sharp peaks.
  • Beat cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt into egg white mixture until incorporated; fold in coconut. Drop spoonfuls of coconut mixture onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until coconut starts to brown, about 20 minutes.
  • Press a cherry half into the top of each macaroon; transfer cookies to a cooling rack.

Steps:

  • Insert an end from two pretzel halves into each candy bar to form antlers. Gently press the cut side of two marshmallow halves onto each candy bar for eyes; dot with decorating gel., For nose, attach an M&M to the top of each candy with decorating gel. Store in an airtight container.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 170 degrees.
  • Place pretzels on parchment covered cookie sheet.
  • Unwrap 1 Hershey's Kiss for each pretzel and place on top.
  • Bake 4-6 minutes until Kisses are soft.
  • Remove from oven and press one coloured M&M into each Kiss.
  • Allow to cool completely.

  • Preheating oven to 170 degrees or the lowest setting on your particular oven. (my ovens lowest setting is 225 degrees and my Rolo's were ready at the same time as the original recipe directed.)
  • Cover a cookie sheet with a Silpat or parchment paper and place pretzels in rows. Top each pretzel with a Rolo and bake for 4 minutes or until the Rolo is soft.
  • If you're making these with kids, remove the warm pretzel/Rolos to a room-temperature surface. I made mine on the cookie sheet. Push one red M&M (M side down) into each nose. Let your completed noses sit out until they have hardened.
