UNCLE FRITZ'S USA A 1 STEAK SAUCE

This is a good likeness to A 1 sauce. I don't eat steak a lot and this recipe makes only 6 servings.It keeps up to 3 months in the fridge. My uncle made me this when I was in Germany. They did not have steak sauce in the house. Very easy and quick to make.

Uncle Fritz's Usa a 1 Steak Sauce image

Steps:

  • Juice oranges.
  • In a small pot add 4 tbsp of the juice .
  • Add the rasins, soy sauce, vinegar, dijon, and orange zest ketchup and chili sauce.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Let cook at medium heat for 2 minutes.
  • Pour mixture into food processor or use a baton mixer and puree.
  • This will keep for 3 months in the fridge.
  • Just put in small sterized sealed jars.

4 tablespoons orange juice, freshly squeezed
1/3 cup raisins
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon orange zest
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon chili sauce

FAMOUS STEAK SAUCE (LIKE A-1) COPYCAT / CLONE

From "About.Com". Great for those who can't find American A-1 sauce. Did you know that Canadian A-1 is TOTALLY different from the American version even though the bottles look the same? I found this out while at a steak house in Toronto. The Canadian version is much sweeter and redder that the US version.

Famous Steak Sauce (Like A-1) Copycat / Clone image

Steps:

  • Put all ingredients into a small pan and bring to a low simmer.
  • Simmer over low heat for 15 minutes.
  • Strain into a bowl by pouring through a fine mesh strainer, pushing raisins with the back of a spoon to release all juices.
  • Allow to cool completely before seasoning to taste with salt and pepper. It tastes different when its hot.
  • Enjoy with your favorite steak!

1/2 cup cold water
1/4 cup raisins
1/2 cup aged balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup Dijon mustard (no substitutes!)
1 pinch cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 garlic clove, cut in half but not crushed
