VEGAN PIZZA DOUGH

This is an updated version of my adopted recipe. The review it had stated the pizza dough did not cook thru after toppings were added. This recipe and directions will help that problem.

Vegan Pizza Dough image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • In large bowl, combine flour, yeast, and salt. Add warm water and olive oil, knead about 5 minutes or until mixture is well combined and forms a ball. Let dough sit for 10 minutes in a warm place.
  • Roll out dough and fit to oiled cookie sheet or pizza pan. Place in oven and bake for approximately 10 minutes or until very slightly browned.
  • Remove from oven and let cool. Add pizza toppings of your choice. Return pizza to oven and bake approximately 10-20 minutes or until cheese is melted. Cool, slice, and serve.

3 -3 1/2 cups flour
2 1/2 ounces fast rising yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup water, very warm
2 tablespoons olive oil

QUICK MIX QUICK RISE PIZZA DOUGH

This recipe has been in my little wooden recipe box for years. It's my "go to" when it's pizza time. It will give you two - 12 inch thin crust pizzas or one lovely thick crust. You can easily double it and still use the KitchenAid to mix and knead it. For a change of taste, change the flour to 1 1/2 cups all-purpose and 1 cup whole wheat.

Quick Mix Quick Rise Pizza Dough image

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups of flour with yeast and salt.
  • Pour hot water and oil into flour mixture and mix well.
  • Mix in remaining flour to make a slightly sticky dough.
  • Form dough into a ball.
  • On a lightly floured surface - or using the dough hook on KitchenAid mixer - knead dough for about five minutes or until smooth and elastic.
  • Cut dough in half; cover and let rest for 10 minutes. To make later, refrigerate the rounds of dough at this point. Bring to room temperature before rolling or stretching.
  • Meanwhile, lightly oil pizza pans or sheets and sprinkle lightly with cornmeal.
  • Roll dough to desired thickness and transfer to pans, or place dough directly on pan and pat and stretch to desired shape and thickness.
  • Let rise for 15 minutes, a little longer if you are making a thick crust.
  • Add toppings.
  • Bake in 450 degree oven for 16 to 18 minutes.

  • dissolve honey and yeast in warm water, let sit for about 7 minutes.
  • stir in salt, flours, and gluten.
  • knead for 5 minute place dough in bowl sprayed with cooking spray. cover and let rise 45 minutes. punch down and divide in half. roll out and place on 2 12 inch pizza pan sprayed with cooking spray.
  • preheat oven to 450 degrees and bake for 5 minutes. remove from oven and put on selected toppings. i use roasted veggies. bake for 15 minutes. mmmmm!

Steps:

  • Mix yeast in warm water until dissolved.
  • Stir in oil and flour until it forms a dough ball.
  • Cover bowl with a kitchen towel, place on top of your stove while the oven is warming up.
  • Let rise for 15 minutes.
  • Spread on pizza pan, jelly roll pan or baking stone (I've used them all).
  • Top with your favorite sauce, meats, veggies, herbs and/or cheeses!

Vegan Lunch Box Easy Whole-Grain Pizza Dough image

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, sprinkle yeast in warm water and stir well to dissolve. Set aside for about 5 minutes to bloom.
  • Meanwhile, place the flours, cornmeal and salt together in the bowl of a food processor fitted with the S blade. Pulse well to combine.
  • With food processor running, slowly drizzle the yeast mixture into the feeding tube. Stop when dough forms a ball. Pour in the olive oil and pulse two or three times to combine.
  • Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly, just long enough to make a smooth dough.
  • Cut dough into eight equal pieces. Shape each into smooth ball.
  • Set balls 2 inches apart on a floured surface and lightly cover with plastic wrap. Let rise a room temperature for 45 minutes.
  • Any dough that you are not baking right away can be wrapped in plastic and kept in the fridge overnight. Just bring to room temperature by letting sit out for about 15 minutes when ready to make.
  • Preheat over to 500°F Place pizza stone in center rack of over--or sprinkle a baking sheet with cornmeal and set aside.
  • On a well-floured surface, pat one dough ball at a time into a 6 1/2 inch circle. Top with topping of your choice, and bake mini pizzas for 7 to 8 minutes until crust is golden and toppings are piping hot.
