Steps:
- Press cloves into orange. Place in heavy large saucepan. Add cider, cranberry juice, sugar, cinnamon sticks, bitters and allspice. Bring t simmer, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat to very low, cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours. Strain into punch bowl. Ladle into cups. Add 2 tablespoons rum o each cup, if desired.

An easy recipe for the traditional holiday drink. If you don't have a tea ball, place spice mixture on a small piece of cheesecloth and tie with a string, forming a small pouch.

- Mix apple cider, orange juice, lemon juice, pineapple juice, and sugar together in a large pot over medium-low heat.
- Place cloves and cinnamon in a tea ball; add ball to the apple cider mixture. Simmer mixture until warmed through, about 15 minutes. Serve from pot with large ladle.

I was given this recipe when touring a home in our community that was presented in full period costume and celebration for the Christmas holiday. In 1821 a German settler brought to the area the first tree for decorating, presented the traditional Yule Log ceremony and offered Wassail Punch.

Steps:
- Wrap the cloves, cinnamon stick, and ginger in cheese cloth, and tie with string.
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, water and spice bag. Simmer and stir until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, and refrigerate overnight.
- Before serving, stir in the orange juice, lemon juice, and cider. Reheat over medium low flame, and serve warm. Be careful not to boil.
