WESTERN-STYLE BAKED BEANS
My husband does not like baked beans but can't get enough of these. They are loaded with a variety of meats and get a little bit of sweetness from molasses and brown sugar. If you don't have a slow cooker, you can bake them in the oven until heated through.

Steps:
- Crumble the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until no longer pink, 5 to 10 minutes. Drain off grease and transfer the beef to a 4 quart or larger slow cooker. Stir in the baked beans, bacon, ham, onion, chili powder, ketchup, brown sugar and molasses. If it seems thick, stir in the water. Cover and cook on High for 3 hours or cook for 6 to 8 hours on Low.

My aunts and I put together their favorite combination several years ago, and have it ready at their camp, and they are some happy cowboys! - Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned and crispy, 10 to 12 minutes. Drain bacon slices on paper towels and crumble when cool enough to handle.

- Soak the beans overnight in water in a large bowl.
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Saute the onions and pork over medium heat in a cast iron Dutch oven until the onions are tender, abut 10 minutes. Add the drained beans, pork, chicken stock, cayenne, molasses, ketchup, brown sugar, and salt and pepper to taste and bring to a boil.
