Steps:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the margarine, peanut butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Combine the flour and baking soda; stir into the peanut butter mixture. Mix in chocolate chips. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly browned at the edges. Allow cookies to cool on the cookie sheets for a minute before removing to wire racks to cool completely.

This recipe is over 100 years old. These cookies need to be chilled over night, but outside of that they only take about a half hour to make. This recipe makes a lot, but they will keep in a covered jar for a long time.

Steps:
- Beat fat and sugars until creamy; add eggs and vanilla, and beat until well mixed.
- Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
- Divide dough into two long rolls, and place in a narrow pan in the freezer to chill overnight.
- Pre-heat oven to 375°F.
- Slice very thin and bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from pan to cool.
