ASIAN BEEF LETTUCE WRAPS

These Asian-inspired lettuce wraps are filled with ground beef cooked in a hoisin-peanut sauce, and topped with crunchy cucumbers, carrots, and fresh mint.

Asian Beef Lettuce Wraps image

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Add hoisin sauce and peanut sauce; cook until heated through, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Spoon beef mixture into the center of lettuce leaves, taco-style. Top with cucumber, carrot, and mint. Season with salt and pepper.

Steps:

  • Saute the beef in a large skillet for 5 minutes, until no longer pink. Stir in rice, sugar, pepper flakes, onion, mint, cilantro, lemon juice, soy, sesame oil, salt and pepper. Heat through, stirring frequently. Spoon into serving dish; set on a large platter. Surround dish with lettuce and mint leaves.
  • To serve, have guests spoon a small amount of beef mixture and mint onto a lettuce leaf; roll up and eat out of hand.

I got this one from Nigella. It is SO easy and very tasty. Nigella recommends serving it in lettuce wraps, but I have used it in tortillas and even as the filling for spring rolls which were to die for! Enjoy.

Steps:

  • Put the oil in a frying pan and saute for a couple of minutes until aromatic.
  • Add the beef and cook stirring over high heat until browned.
  • Add the fish sauce and cook until all the liquid has evaporated.
  • Toss in the spring onions, juice and coriander.
  • That's it- ready to serve as you wish (if you can stop eating it straight from the pan!).

Steps:

  • Clean lettuce and gently pull apart. Try to keep the lettuce leaves as large as possible so that they can hold the other ingredients. Also, it is best to clean lettuce ahead of time and refrigerate it for a couple of hours. This will allow time for the water to dry off of the lettuce after rinsing it.
  • Once the lettuce is ready, add the meat, cheese, tomato and mayonnaise to the center of the lettuce. Then, fold the lettuce over the fillings.
