- In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into four patties., Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat for 5-7 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160° and juices run clear. - In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink, 3-5 minutes, breaking into crumbles. Drain. Stir in the pizza sauce, mushrooms, sugar and oregano; mix well. Spoon onto buns; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. , Place on ungreased baking sheets. Broil 4 in. from the heat until cheese is melted, 2 minutes. , To freeze for quick lunches later, place the split and toasted buns on a baking sheet. Spoon the meat mixture onto buns; freeze for 1 hour. Transfer to freezer-safe airtight containers., To use frozen burgers: Thaw completely in the refrigerator. Sprinkle with cheese. - Heat gas or charcoal grill. In large bowl, mix ground beef and salt. Shape mixture into 12 thin patties, each about 4 inches in diameter.
- In small bowl, mix pepperoni, olives and 1/3 cup of the pizza sauce. Spoon rounded tablespoon pepperoni mixture onto center of 6 patties; spread slightly. Top with remaining patties; press edges together firmly to seal.
- Place patties on grill; cover grill. Cook with medium heat 8 to 12 minutes, turning once, until thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F (avoid inserting in filling). During last 1 to 2 minutes of cooking time, top each patty with cheese and rounded teaspoon of remaining pizza sauce, and place buns, cut side down, on grill; cook until cheese is melted and buns are lightly toasted.
- To serve, place lettuce and patties in bottom halves of buns. Cover with top halves of buns.

- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook and stir until tender, about 3 minutes. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Remove from heat; cool slightly., In a large bowl, combine 1/4 cup marinara sauce, chopped mozzarella cheese, bread crumbs, seasonings and onion mixture. Add chicken; mix lightly but thoroughly. With wet hands, shape into four 1/2-in.-thick patties., In the same skillet, heat remaining 2 tablespoons oil over medium heat. Cook burgers until a thermometer reads 165°, 4-5 minutes on each side. Top with sliced mozzarella cheese; cook, covered, until cheese is melted, 1-2 minutes., Serve in buns; top with remaining 1/2 cup marinara sauce, Parmesan cheese and, if desired, basil leaves.

GRILLED PIZZA BURGERS
These are loaded with veggies fresh from the garden. This makes extra pizza sauce, which I like to keep in the frig for making homemade pizza.

Steps:
- Start the pizza sauce simmering first: Saute the onion and pepper in oil for 3 minutes. Add the garlic and Italian seasoning and saute 1 minute until the onion is soft. Stir in tomatoes and simmer 10-15 minutes, till it thickens to your liking, stirring occasionally. Add the salt, pepper, and sugar to your taste.
- Carefully blend the hot sauce until smooth.
- To make the burgers: Lightly beat the egg white. Add remaining burger ingredients and mix well. Shape into 6 burgers.
- Grill burgers on medium high heat, for 4-5 minutes on each side or until meat is no longer pink.
- Top burgers with cheese slices the last 2 minutes of cooking.
- Serve burgers on buns topped with cheese and tomato sauce.

DOG' N SUDS GRILLED PIZZA BURGERS
Brings me back to the days of carhopping at the Dog 'n Suds back in Chicago! As with pizza, you can also add sliced mushrooms, etc. (If it is not grilling season, these burgers can be broiled on broiling pan sprayed with a little nonstick spray.)

- Combine meat in a large bowl with Parmesan cheese, onion, green pepper, garlic salt, pepper and oregano. If a more garlicky flavor is desired, add 1/8 teaspoons garlic powder to this mixture.
- Add 1/2 to 1 6-oz. can tomato paste to meat mixture to consistency you desire for patties. Shape into 8 patties. (If you put in too much paste, just add some bread crumbs to get the right consistency.).
- Grill over medium hot coals on one side until brown. Turn over and top with cheese slices. Cook until cheese is melted.
- Serve with tomato slices on hamburger buns with dill pickle spears and potato chips or fries. (We like to grill the buns first.).
