Steps:
- Preheat the broiler.
- In a bowl, beat the egg white.
- Stir in the oats, onion, rosemary, and salt.
- Finely chop 1/2 cup of alfalfa sprouts and add to the mixture in the bowl.
- Add the beef and mix well.
- Make 4 3/4 inch thick patties and place them on an unheated broiler pan.
- Broil 2-3 inches away from heat for 6 minutes.
- Turn and broil for another 6-8 minutes or until they're as done as you like them.
- While the patties are broiling, cut the cheese into 8 strips.
- Place 2 strips criss-cross on each patty IMMEDIATELY when they're done broiling.
- Garnish the top of the patties with the rest of the sprouts.

- In a bowl, combine ketchup and molasses; season with salt and pepper. In another bowl, crush avocado with juice; season with salt. Form turkey into four patties. Coat a grill pan or grill rack with cooking spray. Grill patties over medium-high heat until internal temperature reaches 165°F, 20 minutes. Top each with 1 cheese slice. Divide ketchup mixture, burgers, tomatoes, avocado mixture and alfalfa sprouts among buns.
VEGAN BURGERS WITH ALFALFA SPROUTS
This is a vegan alternative to http://www.recipezaar.com/browse/getrecipe.zsp?id=26806&path= . I have a hard time finding veggie burgers that I actually like, so I often make my own. You can put half the nutritional yeast right into the patties and sprinkle the rest on top afterwards, or just save it all for the end.

- Finely chop 1/2 cup of alfalfa sprouts and add to the mixture in the bowl.
- Add the faux-beef and mix well.
- Make 4 3/4 inch thick patties and place them on an unheated broiler pan.
- Broil 2-3 inches away from heat for 6 minutes.
- Turn and broil for another 6-8 minutes or until they're as done as you like them.
- While the patties are broiling, measure the nutritional yeast into 4 equal parts (1 TBSP each).
- Place 1 TBSP nutritional yeast flakes on each patty when they're done broiling.
- Garnish the top of the patties with the rest of the sprouts.

- If you are using sprouted garbanzos, steam them until just tender, about 10 minutes. Most of you will be using canned beans, so jump right in. Pulse the onions a few times in a food processor. Add the garbanzos, eggs, and salt. Puree until the mixture is the consistency of a very thick, slightly chunky hummus. Pour into a mixing bowl and stir in the cilantro, zest, and sprouts. Add the breadcrumbs, stir, and let sit for a couple of minutes so the crumbs can absorb some of the moisture. At this point, you should have a moist mixture that you can easily form into twelve 1 1/2-inch-thick patties, or six larger patties. I err on the moist side here, because it makes for a nicely textured burger. You can always add more bread crumbs a bit at a time to firm up the dough if need be. Conversely, a bit of water or more egg can be used to moisten the batter.
- Heat the oil in a heavy skillet over medium low, add 4 patties, cover, and cook for 7 to 10 minutes, until the bottoms begin to brown. Turn up the heat if there is no browning after 10 minutes. Flip the patties and cook the second side for 7 minutes, or until golden. Remove from the skillet and cool on a wire rack while you cook the remaining patties. Carefully cut each patty in half, insert your favorite fillings, and enjoy immediately.
