CAT SCAT COOKIES
These look like so much fun for a Halloween or children's party. For best visual results, serve the cookies in a new, washed!, kitty litter pan, lined with foil and serve the cookies with a new, washed kitty litter scoop. Chicago Sun-Times.

Steps:
- Place honey in a heat-proof bowl and microwave on high heat until bubbles appear, about a minute; add butter and stir until combined. Add flour, cocoa powder, egg and vanilla and stir to combine.
- Form dough into small, log-shaped cookies of random lengths to resemble cat dukies. Place logs on a baking sheet and refrigerate until firm. Roll chilled logs in Grape nuts until cereal adheres to the dough -- the cookies don't have to be totally covered with the cereal, they should look sort of random or realistic.
- Place on ungreased baking sheets and bake in a preheated 350° oven for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and place cookies on a wire rack to cool completely.
- Line a clean litter box with foil and cover bottom with additional Grape Nuts cereal. Add cookies to the 'litter' and serve with a new (clean) litter scoop. LOL.

Steps:
- Prepare cake mixes and bake according to box directions (any size pan). Prepare pudding, chill until ready to assemble. Crumble sandwich cookies in small batches in food processor, scraping often.
- Set aside all but 1/4 cup.
- To the 1/4 cup of crumbs, add a few drops of green food coloring and mix using fork or shake in a jar.
- When cakes are cooled to room temp, crumble into a large bowl.
- Toss with half the remaining cookie crumbs and chilled pudding.
- You probably won't need all the pudding, mix the cake and "feel" it, you don't want it soggy, just moist; ge ntly combine. Line litter box.
- Put mixture into box.
- Put 3 unwrapped tootsie rolls in microwave safe dish and heat until softened.
- Shape ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly.
- Repeat with 3 more tootsie rolls and bury in cake mixture. Sprinkle the other half of cookie crumbs over top.
- Scatter green crumbles lightly over top (chlorophyll in cat litter). Heat 3 tootsie rolls in microwave until almost melted.
- Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with cookie crumbs.
- Spread remaining tootsie rolls over top; take one and heat until pliable, hang over side of litter box, sprinkle with cookie crumbs.

Steps:
- Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl; set aside. Put butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on medium speed until pale and fluffy. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Reduce speed to low. Gradually mix in flour mixture. Divide dough in half; flatten each half into a disk. Wrap each in plastic. Refrigerate until firm, at least 1 hour (or overnight).
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees, with racks in upper and lower thirds. Let 1 disk of dough stand at room temperature just until soft enough to roll, about 10 minutes. Roll out dough on a lightly floured work surface to just under 1/4 inch thick, adding more flour as needed to keep dough from sticking. Cut out cookies with a 4-inch cat-shape cookie cutter, transferring cookies to parchment-lined baking sheets as you work. Roll out the scraps, and repeat. Repeat with remaining disk of dough. Chill cookies in freezer until very firm, about 15 minutes.
- Bake cookies, switching positions of sheets and rotating halfway through, until edges turn golden, 15 to 18 minutes. Let cool on sheets on wire racks.

CUTE KITTY COOKIES
An oatmeal refrigerator cookie recipe proved "purrfect" for cat cookies. Half of the dough is chocolate, which frames the playful faces. It was a game of cat and mouse to see what dessert plate would be emptied first!
