Steps:
- In a bowl, whisk together the first four ingredients until sugar and salt dissolve. Place onions and optional ingredients, if desired, into large glass jar; pour vinegar mixture over onions. Seal and let stand at least 2 hours at room temperature. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.

This Cucumber, Red Onion, and Dill Salad is simply refreshing. While English cucumbers are generally seedless, if any seeds remain, simply scoop them out by dragging a spoon down the length of the cucumber.

- In the bottom of a large bowl, whisk together the vinegar, sugar, and salt. Toss in the cucumbers, red onions, and fresh dill. Cover and chill for at least 15 minutes.
DILLED CUCUMBER AND ONIONS
While I was growing up, this was one dish you could expect to find at every picnic or family get-together in the summer. My kids always expect me to make it when they come over for dinner too. Cooking time represents the chill time.
