4-BEAN BAKED BEANS

Four different kinds of beans baked with molasses. I have substituted different kinds of beans and enjoyed all of the results. Use whatever kind of beans you like! I have also used Canadian bacon instead of regular bacon.

4-Bean Baked Beans image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place kidney beans, butter beans, lima beans, and pork and beans in a 2-quart casserole dish.
  • Heat a saucepan over medium heat; cook and stir bacon, onion, and garlic until bacon is browned, about 10 minutes. Pour off excess fat.
  • Whisk brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, molasses, and mustard into bacon mixture; simmer until cooked through, about 20 minutes. Pour sauce over beans in the casserole dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until bubbling, 1 hour 15 minutes.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Brown bacon in a large stockpot until crisp.
  • Drain on paper towels reserving 3-4 tablespoons drippings.
  • Saute onions in bacon fat until softened and translucent.
  • Add brown sugar and vinegar.
  • Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add garlic and beans.
  • Bring back to a boil.
  • Transfer to a baking dish and bake for 1 1/4 hours covered.
  • Add bacon bits to top and bake for an additional 5 minutes.

This is the best baked bean dish I've ever had. I've been searching for the perfect bean recipe, and this might just be it. Recipe from Home Cookin' With Dave's Mom (David Letterman). I substituted different beans based on what I had on hand, but it's delicious. I must confess, this is even more delicious with a hot dog or better yet eat it like a chili dog. YUMMY!

Steps:

  • Sauce: In a small skillet over medium heat, heat oil and saute onion and garlic until tender. Add remaining ingredients and stir well.
  • Beans: In a 2-quart casserole, combine beans and sauce and bake at 350 for 45 to 60 minutes.

4 garlic cloves, chopped
3 tablespoons brown sugar

1/2 cup tomato sauce

Steps:

  • Rinse and drain beans (except baked beans!) and set aside. Heat olive oil in a large skillet; 'brown' Veggie Crumbles and soy bacon until thawed. Add onion, and cook just until caramelized.
  • Remove from heat and mix in large bowl with all other ingredients until well combined.
  • Pour into greased 9x13 casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.

  • In a large skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings; set bacon aside. Saute onions in drippings until tender.
