HONEY WALNUT CREAM CHEESE

We came up with this recipe after trying Trader Joe's® honey walnut cream cheese; this was much better since we used the orange blossom honey my mom buys from local farmers' market. She suggest toasting the walnuts. To make a sweeter version, add a tablespoon of granulated sugar while pulsing in the processor. Spread a layer on a slice of your favorite bread and enjoy! Yum!

Honey Walnut Cream Cheese image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place walnuts on a baking sheet. Bake until toasted and fragrant, about 10 minutes. Transfer walnuts to a plate to cool. When walnuts are cool, transfer to a resealable plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin.
  • Combine cream cheese, honey, and walnuts in a food processor and pulse until creamy.

Walnut-Raisin Baked Farmer Cheese image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to broiler.
  • Place Friendship Farmer Cheese in a large mixing bow. Add the remaining ingredients and the toasted walnuts. Mix thoroughly. Transfer mixture to a small baking dish (aluminum disposable is fine). Place under broiler until brown and bubbly on top, about 2 to 3 minutes. Serve hot or at room temperature with crackers of any kind or slices or crusty bread.

Old-Fashioned Oatmeal with Apples, Raisins and Honey-Toasted Walnuts image

Steps:

  • Stir chopped walnuts in small nonstick skillet over medium heat until lightly toasted, about 3 minutes. Drizzle honey over and stir until honey thickens and coats nuts, about 2 minutes. Remove skillet from heat. Stir to loosen nuts from skillet and cool.
  • Bring 3 cups water to boil in heavy medium saucepan. Add oats and salt and stir over medium heat until oats are softened and very thick, about 5 minutes. Stir in apple juice, chopped apple, brown sugar, raisins and cinnamon. Reduce heat to low, cover and cook until apples are tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Divide cereal among 4 bowls. Top with vanilla yogurt and honey-toasted walnuts and serve.
