Steps:

  • Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium high heat for 3 minutes, turning occasionally. Remove sausage and set aside.
  • Add oil and potatoes to skillet and cook until golden brown.
  • Add ale, sauerkraut and mustard to skillet, mixing with potatoes until blended. Cook over medium-high heat for 2 minutes.
  • Return the sausage to the skillet, continue cooking for 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

Steps:

  • 1. Melt butter in skillet, layer cabbage, uncooked rice, onion, raw crumbled hamburger, salt and pepper, then tomatoes and minced garlic. Cover with lid and simmer 25-40 minutes until rice, cabbage and burger are done. Do not stir or lift lid until done.

  • Place potatoes and water in a microwave-safe dish. Microwave, covered, on high until potatoes are tender, 3-4 minutes; drain., Meanwhile, mix brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, thyme and pepper. Honeymoon German Skillet Dinner image

Steps:

  • Take a dutch oven or large skillet, must have lid. Melt butter in bottom on med heat. Add sauerkraut and spread to cover, add chopped onion on top of this layer, then sprinkle the rice on top of this, crumble raw hamburger over the top of this, salt and pepper. Then according to your taste pour 2 to 3 cans of tomato sauce over this. Important.do not stir. Cover with lid.
  • Bring to a boil and turn down to nice slow simmer. Simmer for 25 minutes. Make sure it is simmering slow enough not to burn the bottom.
  • Dinner is done, serve with hot rolls and salad.
  • This is great food!

  • Add a little more olive oil and a knob of butter to skillet. Toss in onions, add a pinch of salt, and sauté until lightly browned and starting to soften. If needed, add a little more butter and then the apple slices, toss gently and cook with the onions for a couple of minutes. Lastly, add the potatoes and toss with onion-apple mixture and cook, stirring frequently for a few more minutes. Season lightly with salt.
  • Add the drained sauerkraut, apple juice and brown sugar, and, if desired, more caraway seed. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
  • Nestle sausages in apple-sauerkraut-potato mixture, cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove lid and simmer another 20-25 minutes until sausage is cooked through, potatoes are tender and most of the liquid has evaporated, stirring occasionally.
