Steps:
- Wash cucumbers well. Slice, then discard any slices with blemishes.
- Mix cucumbers, onions, and salt; let stand 2 hours. Drain and rinse off excess salt.
- Combine vinegar, boiling water, mustard seed, celery seed, turmeric and sugar. Bring to a boil, add cucumbers. Cook 5 minutes.
- Pack into hot sterilized jars leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Wipe rim of jar with a damp paper towel. Adjust 2 piece caps. Process in a boiling water bath canner for 15 minutes.
- *Test cucumbers for hollowness: if a cucumber floats in a bucket of water, it's a "hollow" cucumber and is good for relish, not pickling.
- **To avoid a cloudy brine or darkened pickles, do not use common table salt (use only canning salt).

GRANDMA ELSIE'S MARASCHINO BUNDT® CAKE
A pretty Bundt® cake filled with maraschino cherries and walnuts. Makes a lovely addition to a Christmas brunch. Serve plain or drizzle with a little glaze made of powdered sugar and cherry juice and top with halved maraschino cherries.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a fluted tube pan (such as Bundt®).
- Cut each maraschino cherry into 8 pieces; set aside.
- Sift cake flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl.
- Beat egg whites in a glass, metal, or ceramic bowl until foamy.
- Cream sugar and shortening together in a large bowl. Add dry ingredients; mix to combine. Blend in milk and cherry juice. Add egg whites and mix well. Fold in walnuts and cherries. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 45 to 50 minutes. Cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Run a table knife around the edges to loosen. Invert carefully onto a serving plate or cooling rack. Let cool completely.

GRANDMA'S BAKED MACARONI AND CHEESE
This is my Grandmothers recipe for macaroni and cheese. Serves about 8 comfortably, more if its served as a side dish. I had to guess at the serving size as she says "depends on how many are eating and how hungry they are". Very tasty! This is creamy, cheesy kid pleasing (and adults love it too)!

Steps:
- In saucepan, melt butter.
- Remove from heat; blend in flour & salt.
- Add milk; heat, stirring constantly until sauce thickens a little and is smooth.
- Add 3 C cheese, heat until melted.
- Combine macaroni & sauce in casserole pan.
- Top with remaining cheese.
- Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until top of casserole is golden brown.
