Grands Taco Melts ( Empanadas) image

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees , brown ground beef and drain, add taco seasoning mix , water & 6 Tbs salsa . cook until thickening . press or roll each biscuit into 6' circle . Fill each center with taco mixture ( leaving 1/2' edge ) Spinkle with 1 Tbs. cheese . Fold dough over filling & press edges with fork to seal. Place on a GREASED Cookie sheet, leaving about 2" between each . Bake remaining salsa , cheese and sour cream If desired

1/2 pkg taco seasoning mix
1/3 c water
3/4 c salsa total 6 tbs. filling & 6 tbs to serve
1/2 lb lean ground beef
1/2 can(s) 16.3 pillsbury grands ( or store bought ) refrigerated biscuits
1/2 c shredded cheddar monterey jack , mexican cheese blends 2 oz ,
1/2 c sour cream if desired

Steps:

  • In medium saucepan, cook taco seasoning mix, water, 1/2 cup of the salsa and cooked ground beef until thickened.
  • Press each biscuit into 6-inch round. Spoon 1/3 cup meat mixture and 1 tablespoon cheese onto center of each round. Fold dough in half over filling; press to seal. Place on greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 375°F 9 to 14 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with remaining salsa, cheese and sour cream.
  • Substitution/Expert Tips: If you're watching fat grams, use reduced-fat sour cream or reduced-fat or fat-free plain yogurt instead of regular sour cream. To complete the menu, add a crisp green salad of romaine lettuce topped with fresh orange slices drizzled with your favorite reduced-fat dressing.

  • Combine taco seasoning, water, 1/2 cup salsa, and cooked ground beef in a skillet; cook until thickened.
  • Press each biscuit into 6-inch round. Fill each with taco mixture and 1 tablespoons cheese. Fold dough over filling and press to seal. Place on greased cookie sheet.
