- Pour the honey, boiling water, and whiskey into a mug. Spice it with the cloves and cinnamon, and put in the slice of lemon. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes so the flavors can mingle, then sprinkle with a pinch of nutmeg before serving.

- Put honey or sugar into a mug. Fill 2/3 full with boiling water.
- Add Scotch whisky and stir.
- Garnish with a slice of lemon, dust with nutmeg, and serve.
- Use honey or sugar. You can add a few cloves or some cinnamon.

- For each drink combine the whiskey in a mug or goblet with the sugar syrup, whole cloves, cinnamon stick, and the thin slice of lemon or lime. Fill the mug to the top with boiling water and sprinkle with a dash of nutmeg. Garnish with lemon or lime slice, if desired.

- Add a splash of lemon juice to each, then taste and add more to your preference. Finish each with a slice of lemon, studded with a clove, and serve immediately.
