Steps:

  • Heat oil in a large heavy skillet or deep fryer to 360 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • In a small bowl, mix together cream cheese, jalapenos, cheese, paprika, salt, and garlic powder.
  • Place 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each wonton wrapper. Fold the won ton wrapper over the stuffing to make a triangle or a half moon, depending on the shape of the won ton wrappers you have purchased. Moisten the edges with a little water, and seal. Place prepared won tons under a slightly moist paper towel until ready for frying.
  • Add 3 or 4 wontons to the hot oil, and cook until golden brown, turning once. Set aside on paper towels to drain. Repeat until all wontons have been fried. Serve hot.

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine cream cheese, jalapeños, and cheddar cheese. Arrange wontons in a single layer on a baking sheet. Add 1 teaspoon of the filling to the center of each wonton (don't overfill them). Dip your fingers in a bowl of water and run your wet fingers around all edges of each wonton. Fold the wontons over the filling, pinching the edges to seal to make a triangle and removing any air bubbles. Fry wontons in batches in hot oil until browned and crispy. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with coarse salt. Serve warm.

1 package refrigerated square wonton wrappers
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
3 jalapeños, seeds and ribs removed, finely chopped
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Vegetable oil for frying
Coarse salt

WONTON JALAPENO POPPERS

These are similar to another wonton recipe I saw on JAP. they are really fun to make. I make em for parties and they are always one of the first things to go. I almost always have a few that ask for the recipe! Try them out! You can wrap em and freeze em for another day too.

Steps:

  • 1. Combine softened (room temp) cream cheeses, shredded cheese & bacon.
  • 2. Drain Jalapenos reserving liquid. Add 1T of Jalapeno juice plus the chopped Jalapenos and mix well. You don't want the mixture too wet or soupy.
  • 3. On a cutting board or flat, clean surface lay out 4-8 wonton wrappers and drop approximately a teaspoon of the mixture into the middle of each wrapper.
  • 4. wet all 4 edges of wonton, fold the wonton point to point offsetting slightly, pinch together then bring the bottom two points together and seal. Instructions for folding are on the wonton package.
  • 5. Baking: Spray a sheet pan with canola nonstick cooking spray and place wontons onto the pan. Spray each of the wontons with canola spray, bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes turn them and bake another 5 minutes.
  • 6. Frying: Heat 3-4 inches of Canola or vegetable oil in a fryer or heavy pot on top of your stove. Carefully place several wontons into oil they should be frying and bubbly immediately when you put them in. Do not over load your fry oil or the heat will come down and make them oily and soggy. Fry for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.

8 oz package of cream cheese (plain)
8 oz tub spreadable cream cheese (chive & onion)
1 c fancy shredded pepper jack cheese (or your choice)
1 Small can(s) chopped jalapenos
1 pkg real bacon bits (found in salad dressing isle)
3-4 drops of hot sauce (optional)
bowl of water (for sealing wontons)
canola nonstick cooking spray or canola oil for frying
