MICHIGAN CHERRY COBBLER
Grandma made this recipe every year when cherries were ripe. Its so good warm with ice cream.

Steps:
- 1. For fruit mixture: Mix together sugar, cornstarch, and water. Bring to a boil. Add cherries and boil 1 minute over medium heat. Stir in butter, lemon juice and food coloring. Remove from heat and pour into a 10 by 6 inch baking dish or casserole dish.
- 2. For cobbler topping: Mix together together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Stir in oil. Add milk and mix well. Drop by small teaspoonfuls onto hot cherry mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream.
- 3. Notes: I like to sprinkle a little cinnamon sugar on top of the cobbler topping before baking. You can use 1 (16 ounce) can of canned cherries instead of fresh. Drain them and use drained juice in place of water called for in recipe.

- Spray a 13 x 9 inch glass baking dish with non-stick butter flavored baking spray and set aside.
- In a non-stick skillet, melt chocolate chips and condensed milk over low heat until just smooth. Stir in vanilla, cherries and nuts and pour into glass baking dish.
- Chill until firm, slice and watch it disappear!

I usually double this recipe so that I have plenty to share during the holidays. Pretty pink cookies such as these are a wonderful treat.

- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Transfer to a large bowl if necessary. Stir in walnuts, cherries and raisins.
- Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees F for 16-18 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool. Store in an airtight container.
