MY MOMMY'S CHILI

This is my mom's recipe, although it is not exact because she never made anything the same. But, this is how I make it and we eat it at least 3 times a month because it is so tasty and a snap to make!

My Mommy's Chili image

Steps:

  • Cook onion, celery, and ground beef in large saucepan over medium heat until beef is cooked and celery and onion are tender, drain.
  • Add onion, celery, and ground beef back into saucepan.
  • Add remaining ingredients and simmer 20 minutes.
  • Serve with crackers, melted cheese, sour cream, or whatever sounds good.

1 onion, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 (15 1/2 ounce) cans chili beans (I use Brook's, one can of Mild and one can of Hot & Spicy)
1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) can beef broth
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons cumin
1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Classic Chili image

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven or large soup kettle, saute green pepper, onions and celery in oil until tender, about 5 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until browned; drain. Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, Worcestershire sauce and seasonings. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 1-1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add kidney beans. Simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes longer. If desired, serve with tortilla chips.

MY MOM'S CHILI RECIPE

My mom always made chili this way and I have adopted it for my family. We all love it with some saltine crackers. The spaghetti is optional and you can really use any noodle you have on hand. This is very versatile. All ingredients are approx since I have never actually measured them before. Make to your taste. I will make this tonight and measure everything out and revise.

Steps:

  • Fry the ground beef in a skillet until done.
  • Put ground beef in a large saucepan and add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, salsa and chili powder.
  • Simmer ingredients until boiling and then add the noodles. Taste to make sure chili powder is enough.
  • Cook until noodles are done to your liking. Approx 10 minute.
  • Ladle into bowls and enjoy.
