We serve this with ham on Easter Sunday. I often double this recipe. Especially when we have company over. Enjoy!

Steps:

  • Beat egg and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Mix vinegar and mustard in a small bowl; slowly stir into the egg mixture.
  • Cook and stir the mixture until hot.

NONA'S JAPANESE STEAKHOUSE MUSTARD SAUCE

This sauce is found in many teppanyaki style Japanese steak houses in the U.S. I first had this type of cooking in Okinawa in the late 60's and fell in love with the sauce. I tried different versions of this mustard sauce, and after numerous attempts, came up with this version I like the best. This sauce goes well with grilled teppanyaki style meats and seafood.

Asian Pork with Hot Mustard Sauce image

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the mustard, oil, vinegar, salt if desired and turmeric; gradually add milk until smooth. Refrigerate. , In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the soy sauce, ketchup, sugar, molasses and garlic; add pork. Seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate for 4-6 hours, turning occasionally., Discard marinade. Place pork in a shallow roasting pan. Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 15-17 minutes or until a thermometer reads 145°. Let stand for 5 minutes before slicing. Slice pork; sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Serve with mustard sauce.

Ma'ono's Chinese-Style Mustard Dipping Sauce image

Steps:

  • Dissolve the mustard powder in the water, add the other ingredients, whisk until smooth. The mixture will taste bitter and acrid at first, until the powdered mustard reconstitutes, but will mellow as it sits. Prepare one hour in advance.

Chinese-Style Mustard Sauce image

Steps:

  • Place sugar and mustard in the top of a double boiler, and whisk to combine. When well combined, whisk in egg yolks and vinegar. Cook over simmering water, stirring occasionally, until thick enough to form ribbons when drizzled from a spoon, 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat, and allow the mixture to cool. When cool, fold in the creme fraiche. Refrigerate in an airtight container until ready to use.

1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup Coleman's mustard powder
2 large egg yolks
1/2 cup red-wine vinegar
3/4 cup creme fraiche, or sour cream

  • Toast your sesame seeds in a dry skillet or frying pan over medium high heat until golden and fragrant. Remove from heat.
  • Combine toasted sesame seeds, soy sauce, ground mustard ( mixed with 1 tsp water ) and garlic powder in a blender or food processor bowl. Combine until smooth, about 15 - 30 seconds.
  • In a small saucepan, bring the heavy cream to low heat and add the blended sesame seed, soy, and mustard mixture. Continue to cook for about 2 - 3 minutes, or until completely heated through, stirring occasionally.
