FIRESIDE CHEESE SPREAD

When our family and friends get together for holidays or other occasions, I serve this appetizer. It's always a success. If you prefer, try a Swiss cheese spread instead of the cheddar. And, if you enjoy garlic, substitute a small clove of minced garlic for the garlic powder. -Debbie Terenzini-Wilkerson, Lusby, Maryland

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine cheese spread, cream cheese, butter, Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder. Blend thoroughly. Chill at least 3 hours or overnight. Sprinkle with paprika and parsley. Serve with crackers.

  • In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream and mayonnaise until smooth. Stir in the cheddar cheese, onions and dressing mix. Transfer to a small bowl. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour., Serve with crackers and/or vegetables.

Steps:

  • Combine the first seven ingredients; pat into a bowl lined with plastic wrap. Cover with the wrap and chill. Invert onto a serving platter and sprinkle with parsley. Serve with crackers.

Steps:

  • Beat the cream cheese and Cheddar cheese together with an electric mixer in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in the salad dressing, garlic salt, sugar, and pickle juice, scraping down the sides of the mixing bowl. Stir in the pickle relish and pimentos. Roasted Garlic Cheese Spread image

Steps:

  • Note- If using salted butter, lower amount of salt used or omit.
  • Preheat oven to 325°F.
  • Cut off top third of garlic head without peeling away papery skin.
  • Drizzle top of garlic with olive oil until it is saturated.
  • Place garlic cut side down in a ovenproof ramekin dish or baking pan.
  • Roast for 60-75 minutes, or until soft and tender.
  • When slightly cooled, squeeze out roasted garlic cloves and place in a mini-food processor (or may place in a bowl to whisk by hand).
  • Add softened cream cheese, butter, salt, and pepper to mini-processor and pulse until creamy and smooth.
  • Place in a serving/storage dish and blend in snipped chives (if using).
  • Serve softened spread with assorted crackers.
