- In a large skillet, cook beef and onions over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Drain. , Transfer to a 5-qt. slow cooker. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low until vegetables are tender, 6-8 hours.

SAVORY GROUND BEEF VEGETABLE STEW
This is an easy hearty soup that everyone I've served loves. I got this recipe from my missionary friends who served it to service men in the Phillipines in the late 70's. Good the 2nd day too!

Steps:
- Brown beef with onion added and rinse with hot water to remove excess fat.
- Add onion soup and spices to beef.
- Place potatoes and carrots on top.
- Add tomato juice and water and stir to combine ingredients.
- Bring to a boil and then simmer until potatoes and carrots are done.
- Add package of mixed vegetables and stir.
- Heat until vegetables are done,may simmer as desired.

- In a 1-quart casserole microwave sliced carrot and chopped onion, ahnd 1 T water, covered, on 100% power for 2 minutes.
- Stir the ground beef into the partially cooked vegetables.
- Micro-cook, uncovered, on 100% power for 3 minutes, stirring once to break up the meat.
- Drain off the fat.
- Stir in tomato sauce, 1/2 cup water, dry red wine, sugar, salt, garlic powder and pepper.
- Micro-cook, uncovered, on 100% power for 4 to 5 minutes more or until mixture is heated through and vegetables are tender.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and serve.
