PEANUT BUTTER CHEWS

Have been making these since I was 15. Served in our school cafeteria for dessert and no one ever wanted to trade. They are requested for every gathering. I even sell them at our local bar and batches of them to friends who hate to cook.

Steps:

  • 1. Put sugar, corn syrup, peanut butter, and butter in large non-stick pot. Bring to boil and constantly stir so it does not burn to bottom of pan. Use med to med.low heat.
  • 2. Once it starts to bubble on top, take off hot burner to a cool burner. Slowly add in corn flakes stirring in between so they all get covered. If a little to syrupy, add in the 7th cup of corn flakes.
  • 3. Let set a couple of minutes to cool for handling..With tablespoon form balls and put on wax paper on cookie sheet and let cool..If you want them to set faster, stick them in fridge for awhile but do not keep them in there, they will get to hard to eat. 1 c white corn syrup
1 c smooth peanut butter
2 Tbsp butter or marg.

PEANUT BUTTER CHEWIES

These were a favorite of mine in elementary school in Arkansas. They are very easy to make. My three year old son loves them and they bring back memories for me. They are also good to throw in a zip bag for travel.

PEANUT BUTTER CHEWS

This is a easy snack. If you use the clear corn syrup this recipe is okay for any child that is on a diet where they cannot have any food coloring, dyes, or such. My ex SIL's son was on a diet for A.D.D. This was one of his favorite treats he could have.

SCHOOL CAFETERIA PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES

This is supposedly the recipe for the awesome peanut butter cookies that the East Penn School District cafeterias made from scratch each day when I was in school. With the revamping of the lunch program to promote healthy foods, they discontinued making these cookies sometime in the early 90s. I thought these were the best cookies ever. This makes a lot of cookies. You may need to use your hands near the end of mixing as the dough gets stiff. You can cut this recipe in half, but use 3 eggs.
