TANGY BARBECUED BEEF SANDWICHES
Every year for our church ice cream social, we'd fill six roaster ovens with these ingredients and let them simmer all day. Boy, did that barbecue smell good. If you want a meal that's ready to eat in 30 minutes, but can keep on the stove for late arrivals, this is the one. -Janet Sipes, Monmouth, Illinois

BARBECUE HAM SANDWICHES
Busy Fogelsville, Pennsylvania cook Constance Eddy writes, This tangy sauce freezes well and is even better when it's reheated. "It's great on hot dogs, too! You can also fix it ahead...and keep it warm in the slow cooker if you make a larger amount for picnic or party fare."

PITTSBURGH HAM BARBECUE SANDWICHES
There are various versions of this recipe on zaar, but this one is my favorite. The key ingredient is the chili sauce, preferably Heinz. In Pittsburgh, Isaly's "chipped chopped" ham is the brand of choice but it is hard to find outside of western Pennsylvania. The best alternative is to have the butcher slice the ham very thin (almost like shaving it), and then chop all those slices coarsely. These sandwiches are a hot and sweet treat with a little spice and a Pittsburgh favorite. I got it from a local Pittsburgh cookbook.

HAM BARBECUE SANDWICHES
These make a great, easy meal. They're also great to make/take for large gatherings; you can put the ham barbecue in a crock pot to keep warm. I sometimes put a slice of cheese on them before serving.

PITTSBURGH HAM BARBECUES
I grew up on these delicious, sweet, and tangy barbecue sandwiches made from chipped deli ham. This dish is a staple in Western Pennsylvania, although each family seems to have its own way of making them! It's a terrific last-minute meal. Chipped chopped ham is a pressed ham loaf sold at deli counters in the Pittsburgh area which is always chipped. If you can get Islay's Chipped Ham, that is the original and still the best for these sandwiches. Otherwise, just get any deli ham and have it chipped or shaved paper thin. Enjoy!

TANGY BARBECUE SANDWICHES
This is adapted from a crockpot cookbook I have. The original recipe contained water and cooked on high. We found that the meat is better cooked on low, and that the addition of the water makes it too soupy. We enjoy this on onion rolls from the bakery of our local grocery store. Sometimes we even spread the rolls with garlic butter and toast them under the broiler before loading with the meat. Great with Recipe #71203, #71203 or my Recipe #247747, #247747.

Steps:
- Combine all ingredients except roast, buns, and pickles in crock pot. Mix well.
- Add roast. Roll the roast around to coat with the other ingredients.
- Cover. Cook on Low 8-10 hours.
- Remove roast. Cool enough to shred meat with two forks. Depending on the direction of the grain of the meat, you may want to cut into smaller pieces with a knife before shredding. The last time I made this, I had very long shreds of meat that didn't stay on the bun very well when I bit into it, because the grain ran weird on the roast, and I just shredded it anyway.
- Return meat to sauce. Heat well.
- Serve on buns with pickles, if desired.
