MAID-RITE (LOOSE MEAT)
I was born and raised in Marshallton Iowa. And there is noting like a Taylors Maid-Rite. You are not going to get any closer to the TRUE recipe than this. Since the original owners have changed, so has the recipe. The Creator of the maid-rite was a butcher, so you know he is not going to use JUST HAMBURGER. The meat has to be ground FINELY. small little morsels. You DO NOT use ketchup on these sandwiches. It changes the flavor of the meat. You leave yourself out of the true taste if you do. Give this a try, You will not regret it. :)

Steps:
- go to the meat department, pick a nice looking Chuck Roast. 3-4 lbs.
- Go to the butcher, ask him/her to grind it FINE.
- In a Cast iron skillet scramble up the Chuck Roast. (MUST BE A CAST IRON PAN, a regualr pan makes the meat taste boiled and loses it's flavor).
- While the meat is cooking, chop up some onion.
- MUSTARD ONION AND PICKLE ON THE BUN LIKE A BURGER.
- Please Please do NOT use ketchup it changes the flavor of the meat some how.So if you want an awesome burger do NOT USE ketchup.
ANOTHER LOOSE MEAT (MAID-RITE) RECIPE
Another midwesterner here whose family loves these little gems. This recipe came from a 'best loosemeat recipe' contest in Iowa and this is the winner. My favorite as well ! The chicken broth gives it a very nice flavor.

- In a large skillet, combine beef, water, mustard, and sugar. Simmer over medium heat until the beef is cooked through, about 5 minutes, breaking up clumps of meat with a spoon.
- Drain the fat if desired (I don't, and it is closer to the original recipe if you don't, but you can if you want). Stir in onion and season to taste with salt and pepper (I like 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper).
- Serve meat on buns with toppings on the side such as ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and pickles.
